Welcome
Join Us This Week as we
Study the Bible
We Study the Bible as part of our worship of the Lord. We’ll look at
an entire book, chapter by chapter, so we can have a better
understanding of the complete context of the text. We believe that
God’s Word was given as He intended, and the best method of
interpretation is a literal, historical-cultural, grammatical approach
to the Scriptures.
We usually study through the Old Testament on Sunday mornings,
and our mid-week study is in the New Testament. We study this
way because the Bible tells us that the Law is our tutor to bring us
to Christ. Studying the Old Testament should point us to Jesus
Christ, draw us closer to Him, and help us to know Him and His
work in the life of a Christian.
Worship in Song
We love to worship the Lord. There are many styles of music, and
worship should draw our hearts towards God. Worship at Calvary
Scott Valley is primarily contemporary music, a guitar, keyboard or
piano, and the church is the choir. We believe that worship and
song are meant to be particpatory, not merely observing someone
else in the midst of worship.
Pray and Fellowship Together
For someone who has never been to church, the word “fellowship”
might seem foreign. Fellowship is having conversation, building
friendships, sharing in a meal, “hanging out” with other Christians,
and developing a closer relationship with Jesus and others.
